Akari supports Typhoon Kristine Relief Efforts through donation to Angat Buhay Foundation

Building a Legacy of Excellence

In the wake of Typhoon Kristine’s devastating impact across the Philippines, Akari Lighting and Technology Corporation — one of the country’s leading LED lighting brands — has stepped up to support typhoon relief efforts for affected communities across Luzon and the Visayas.

On October 28, Akari generously donated tactical lights, flashlights, and solar lights to former Vice President Leni Robredo’s Angat Buhay Foundation — an organization widely recognized for its dedicated and on-the-ground support of Filipino communities during times of crisis and natural disasters.

The donation aims to address the immediate needs of hundreds of thousands of displaced families and households experiencing power outages due to Typhoon Kristine. This effort is part of Akari’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) program in the Philippines, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to disaster preparedness and community resilience.

“We’ve successfully increased the seating capacity in the upper-ground or general admission area, raising it from nearly 7,000 to more than 8,000 seats,” Tan revealed.

He added that the project team is also carefully studying proposals to introduce standing room areas, prioritizing both safety and accessibility for fans.

“Safety remains a top priority. Should standing zones be added, there will be protective barriers in place, along with clear emergency discharge routes to ensure everyone’s well-being,” Tan explained.

In his speech, Tan expressed gratitude to the UAAP for entrusting Athletica Asia Land Corporation with such a meaningful endeavor.

“Today, as we break ground, we’re not just laying the foundation of a structure — we’re building a legacy. This will be a space that inspires future generations and unites people through the power of sports,” he said.

Meeting Essential Needs in Times of Crisis

Many areas hit hardest by Typhoon Kristine are facing prolonged electricity disruptions, and Akari's lighting solutions will provide essential light sources for families and emergency responders working in these challenging conditions.

Akari's tactical lights, solar-powered lights, and LED flashlights are engineered for resilience and built to perform in extreme conditions — making them ideal for disaster response and typhoon relief operations in the Philippines.

Angat Buhay Foundation's Proven Commitment to Disaster Relief

Under the leadership of former Vice President Leni Robredo, the Angat Buhay Foundation has become a vital force in Philippine disaster relief operations, channeling resources to underserved communities and those most affected by natural calamities.

Since its inception, the foundation has mobilized countless efforts to aid Filipinos in distress, leveraging its extensive grassroots networks and deep experience in providing aid, recovery, and rehabilitation resources across the archipelago.

Through Akari's donation, Angat Buhay can now equip communities with essential lighting tools — vital for families and rescue workers navigating power-deprived zones in Typhoon Kristine-stricken regions. The lights will be deployed in heavily impacted areas in Bicol, Quezon, and Metro Manila where access to electricity remains uncertain and public safety concerns are high.

Akari's Ongoing Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility in the Philippines

This donation is one of many ways Akari Lighting and Technology Corporation has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting Filipino communities, especially in times of need. Over the years, Akari has initiated and championed programs focused on disaster resilience, sustainable energy, and community development across the Philippines.

By partnering with Angat Buhay Foundation, Akari aligns its mission of "lighting houses into homes" with the foundation's goal of creating sustainable, life-changing solutions for underserved and calamity-affected communities.

Akari's CSR initiatives reflect the growing role of Philippine businesses in disaster response, and position the brand as a socially responsible LED lighting company in Southeast Asia.

A Brighter Path Forward for Typhoon-Affected Communities

As Typhoon Kristine-affected communities begin the long road to recovery and rehabilitation, the partnership between Akari and Angat Buhay serves as a beacon of hope, resilience, and Filipino bayanihan spirit.

Beyond supplying immediate lighting solutions, this collaboration highlights the power of public-private partnerships in Philippine disaster response — demonstrating how brands, NGOs, and communities can work together to rebuild lives after calamities.

Through contributions like these, Akari Lighting and Angat Buhay Foundation are proving that, together, Filipinos can overcome adversity and illuminate a brighter path forward.
