A historic milestone for the UAAP community has officially begun — the rise of an 8,000-seat arena that will soon become a symbol of unity, excellence, and passion for Filipino student-athletes. More than just a venue, this state-of-the-art complex will serve as a beacon where communities come together to uplift, illuminate, and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.
Dedicated to nurturing future champions, the Home of the UAAP will provide a world-class facility where athletes can train, compete, and grow — strengthening their foundation to represent their schools and the nation with pride. Akari, through its commitment to innovation and nation-building, is honored to help bring this vision to life.
Akari Lighting and Technology Corporation, one of the Philippines’ leading energy-efficient LED lighting providers, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility by donating essential lighting solutions to the Philippine National Police (PNP). In March 2025, two key PNP medical and dental facilities received high-quality LED and solar lighting equipment, ensuring safer, more efficient healthcare delivery for police personnel, their families, and authorized civilians across the country.
Medical environments demand reliable, high-quality illumination. Poor lighting in clinics, dental units, and emergency response areas directly impacts the accuracy of diagnoses, the safety of procedures, and the speed of emergency care. By providing premium LED bulbs, rechargeable emergency lights, and solar-powered floodlights, Akari is directly addressing a critical operational need — particularly in areas where power interruptions remain a constant challenge for frontline public health workers.
“We’ve successfully increased the seating capacity in the upper-ground or general admission area, raising it from nearly 7,000 to more than 8,000 seats,” Tan revealed.
He added that the project team is also carefully studying proposals to introduce standing room areas, prioritizing both safety and accessibility for fans.
“Safety remains a top priority. Should standing zones be added, there will be protective barriers in place, along with clear emergency discharge routes to ensure everyone’s well-being,” Tan explained.
In his speech, Tan expressed gratitude to the UAAP for entrusting Athletica Asia Land Corporation with such a meaningful endeavor.
On March 22, 2025, Akari delivered its first donation batch to the Regional Medical and Dental Unit – Cordillera (RMDU-CAR), located at Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet. This facility serves PNP personnel, their dependents, and authorized civilians throughout the Cordillera Administrative Region, providing medical, dental, and mental health services to one of the country’s most geographically challenging areas. To support their mission in low-light and emergency conditions, Akari provided 20 emergency lights, 12 rechargeable LED search lights, and a supply of rechargeable flashlights — ensuring that medical procedures and emergency responses can be carried out safely and efficiently regardless of power availability.
“In just a few years’ time, this arena will serve as a breeding ground — an incubation center — for young athletes who will make their schools and country proud,” said Tiu. “It will be a place where their skills are honed, their dreams are nurtured, and their potential shines brightest.”
Two days later, on March 24, 2025, Akari completed its second donation at the Field Medical and Dental Unit of the National Police Training Institute (FMDU-NPTI), located at Camp BGen Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna. Serving police trainees, students, and active personnel, this facility plays a vital role in maintaining the health and wellness of those entering and serving in the Philippine National Police. Akari’s donation included 35 15W LED bulbs, 16 18W LED tubes, 7 LED emergency lights, and 10 120W solar floodlights — a comprehensive upgrade that improves visibility across examination rooms, treatment areas, and outdoor perimeters alike.
The inclusion of 120W solar floodlights in the FMDU-NPTI donation carries particular strategic significance. For facilities operating in areas susceptible to power outages — such as remote training camps and provincial medical units — solar lighting ensures uninterrupted operations without dependence on the electrical grid. The Department of Energy Philippines has long championed solar adoption as a cornerstone of national energy resilience, and Akari’s donation directly supports that vision at the community level. Paired with high-efficiency LED bulbs and tubes that consume up to 80% less energy than traditional fluorescent alternatives, these contributions significantly reduce operating costs for the PNP while delivering superior illumination quality in clinical and emergency settings.
“With the UAAP Home, we take the next bold step forward. Beyond being a sports venue, it will be a true home — a space of belonging, growth, and shared legacy. A place where champions will be nurtured,” Fr. Ang said.
As the foundations are laid and the vision takes shape, The Home of the UAAP promises to stand not only as a physical structure but also as a lasting symbol of collaboration, perseverance, and Filipino pride — a testament to what can be achieved when innovation and passion come together.
The PNP donation is one chapter in Akari's broader corporate social responsibility program — an initiative spanning schools, barangays, disaster relief operations, and government institutions across the Philippines. As a trusted name in Philippine LED and solar lighting technology, Akari continues to demonstrate that corporate citizenship extends well beyond business metrics. By supporting PNP public safety operations, advancing sustainable energy adoption, and enhancing healthcare facility infrastructure in underserved areas, Akari lives out its core mission: to bring light — and with it, safety and progress — to every Filipino.
