Akari Lighting and Technology Corporation — the leading lighting and technology brand in the Philippines — continues to expand its impressive roster of brand ambassadors with one of the most exciting signings in the company’s history. The brand has officially announced Japanese volleyball sensation Ran Takahashi, outside hitter of the Japan Men’s National Volleyball Team, as its newest and most globally recognized Akari brand ambassador.
This bold move further solidifies Akari’s position as a top-of-mind consumer brand in the Philippines and signals its growing ambition to connect with audiences not just locally, but across the Asian and international market.
Ran Takahashi is one of the most electrifying professional volleyball players in Asia and the world. The 6’2″ outside hitter has captivated fans worldwide with his explosive performances for the Japan Men’s National Volleyball Team, rising to international stardom since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Known for his perfect blend of power, precision, and elegance on the court, Takahashi embodies the same values of excellence and innovation that Akari stands for.
For Takahashi, joining the Akari family was a deeply personal and professional decision.
“I am very excited because representing a brand in the Philippines is a great opportunity for me, especially with their strong, Japan-quality products. I also love the people — especially the volleyball fans in the Philippines,” he shared.
The connection goes beyond business. Takahashi sees Akari as a brand that resonates with his identity and heritage.
“Akari feels very close to home for me. The brand has its share of Japan influence, and also supports my favorite sport — volleyball,” he added, highlighting the natural synergy between his personal values and Akari’s brand identity rooted in Japanese-quality craftsmanship and innovation.
As an official Akari brand ambassador, Takahashi is set on amplifying the brand’s reach across the Philippines and beyond.
“My goal is to showcase the brand to all my fans and supporters both in the Philippines and internationally. I will show that as an athlete, I can promote powerful, Japan-quality products — just as volleyball delivers powerful and quality games to all our fans,” the celebrated FIVB volleyball star said.
This international partnership reflects Akari’s strategic vision: to grow from the Philippines’ most trusted lighting brand into a globally recognized lighting and technology company — carried forward by world-class ambassadors who share its values.
Among Akari’s expanding product lineup, one item that immediately caught Takahashi’s eye is Akari’s impressive range of rechargeable electric fans — engineered with cutting-edge design and superior functionality.
“Akari products are very attractive with their designs and functions — especially the Akari fans with Japan quality that are rechargeable and powerful. I’m particularly excited about the Akari Turbo Handy Fan that they will be launching soon,” Takahashi said.
The Akari Turbo Handy Fan is set to become one of the most talked-about portable rechargeable fans in the Philippines — combining the powerful performance Filipino consumers demand with the sleek, durable design inspired by Japanese engineering standards.
With Ran Takahashi on board as its newest global ambassador, Akari Lighting and Technology Corporation is poised to reach new heights — connecting with a wider audience of consumers who value quality, performance, and innovation in every product they bring home.
This partnership not only celebrates Takahashi’s extraordinary achievements in international volleyball but also reinforces Akari’s unwavering commitment to delivering top-quality, energy-efficient lighting and technology products that resonate with customers across the Philippines and around the world.
“We’ve successfully increased the seating capacity in the upper-ground or general admission area, raising it from nearly 7,000 to more than 8,000 seats,” Tan revealed.
He added that the project team is also carefully studying proposals to introduce standing room areas, prioritizing both safety and accessibility for fans.
“Safety remains a top priority. Should standing zones be added, there will be protective barriers in place, along with clear emergency discharge routes to ensure everyone’s well-being,” Tan explained.
In his speech, Tan expressed gratitude to the UAAP for entrusting Athletica Asia Land Corporation with such a meaningful endeavor.
“Today, as we break ground, we’re not just laying the foundation of a structure — we’re building a legacy. This will be a space that inspires future generations and unites people through the power of sports,” he said.
